WebEither way, the HD600, HD650/HD6XX & HD660s are all great headphones and for the average or beginner audiophile, great headphones with small differences between them. I like the 600 much more than the 660. 660 doesn't have the same timbre that the 600s has which to my ears is very neutral, 660s sounded dark. WebThe 660 driver is different, and larger, but it seems obvious that the HD58X is benefiting from the same improvements that Sennheiser made to the 150 ohm drivers in general. At least in my opinion, of course. It's really pretty remarkable that you can even debate how similar they sound to the over twice as pricey and up models in the same lineup.

A much bigger and immediately noticeable step up for me was the Arya. Like the 800S (as I read) it provides a much more 3-dimensional stage, and bass response ist on a differnent level.

Based on Amir's measurements of the Motu M4, the maximum usable output level of the headphone output of the M2 should be around 2.3 V RMS, which for the HD660s would give peaks of about 120 dB SPL.
